For 18 years International Hall of Fame inductee Birdie Rader has been selling real estate in Cape Girardeau, MO, either as a broker/owner of her own CENTURY 21® franchise or as a top producer for CENTURY 21 Key Realty. But the part she likes best about her job are the customers.

"When I owned my own office, I found out that I really liked working with buyers and sellers better than managing sales associates," Rader recalls. "It's especially fun to work with first-time home buyers, because they are so happy to be buying a house."

And there's something special Rader finds in achieving certain award levels that make all the hard work and long hours worthwhile.

"I really like the awards offered through the CENTURY 21® System," said Rader, a nine-year CENTURION® award winner who was the first sales associate in the Missouri Region to achieve this lofty status. "There is always something to look forward to and I like associating with others who are winners too."

Rader is something of a pioneer in the Missouri region, according to Regional Director John Miller, who said: "When Birdie earned CENTURION® status in Missouri, it was a momentous event because no one else had dared to believe it could be done here. Now, Birdie acts as a mentor to many young sales associates and continues to be a dominant force in her marketplace."

To be dominate and achieve CENTURION® level in a small conservative Midwest town like Cape Girardeau, where the average home price is approximately $98,000, Rader diversified her base and became more knowledgeable in both residential and commercial real estate.

Plus, it doesn't hurt to sell the most expensive house in the community. "I just closed on $500,000 house, and as far as I know that's the most expensive property in this area," laughed Rader, who lives in Cape Girardeau with husband, William, a retired circuit court judge. They have two daughters and two grandsons.

After setting yet another record and with her addition to the Hall of Fame, do you think Rader has any plans to slow down? No way.

"Selling real estate is really in my blood and I was so excited and surprised when I was inducted into the Hall of Fame," said Rader. "It just goes to show that if you work hard, work smart and be consistent, you will receive recognition."
